The Waterfall of Pitões das Júnias

This beautiful waterfall coming from the river of Pitões, is located at the end of the village of Pitões das Júnias, and forms part of the many waterfalls in the region of Barroso.

Due to the uneven ground, it develops in various levels, with the first having 30 meters and the course ends in a beautiful lake bordered by granite outcrops along a centenary and charismatic Oak tree who over the years has been target of different local legends, such as the fact that over there lives a goblin.

To reach the waterfall just follow up and go to the Pitões das Júnias parking access to the waterfall, followed by a little path of about 600 meters, crossing a walkway and a wooden bridge.

Abrigos de Pitões

These "shelters" or mountain lodges where you can enjoy sweeping views between narrow valleys and fearful peaks of the National Park Peneda-Geres, remain in do Coto Street, in the village of Pitões das Júnias, a typical mountain village in the intermediate zone of Geres and Barroso to 1164m altitude.

The shelters have basic amenities of modern life, but are specially prepared for those who enjoy the simple life of the mountain and the nature.
